Neighbors Helping Neighbors

Dear Friends,

Your help is needed today and it could make a difference where it matters this holiday season.
I'd like to ask for your help- but not for this campaign.

So many Maine people are struggling right this very minute. One group that is especially hard-hit is our senior citizens. Many are on a fixed income and are too proud to ask for help- they've taken care of themselves all their lives and aren't about to ask for a hand now. Many can't afford to heat their homes this winter. They are closing off rooms just trying to stay warm. They are faced with choices that people should never, ever have to make:

Heat my home OR buy my prescriptions OR pay for my groceries??

My friend, Senator Bill Diamond, relayed a story yesterday about families in his district that have been without heat in their homes for up to three weeks. Three weeks.

And Senator Diamond decided to do something about it. He has set up an emergency relief fund to directly help those who are struggling this holiday season. I am helping and I'd like to ask if you will too.

Will you help your neighbors get the emergency assistance for heating oil they need by donating to the fund today? Any contribution amount will be gratefully accepted. In fact, the first $500 that folks give to the emergency fund will be matched by an anonymous donor. So, please- let's pull together and help some of our neighbors.

Next month we plan to kick our campaign into high gear, pushing hard to protect Maine's progressive values in the First District and in Washington DC. I hope you'll be able to volunteer or contribute and help me fight for you in Congress. But this isn't a time for one campaign or one person: this is a time for family and community.

Thank you, and have a safe and happy holiday season.

Sincerely,

-Ethan
